Indian and Indo-Chinese Spicy Balls of Dumpling Heaven Come to Digbeth This Saturday

As Taste and Liquor gear to host the second annual International Dumpling Festival, the teamed have been feasting through endless amounts of juicy dumplings (well someone had to do it) and they truly think they’ve found the best-of-the-best Dumplings from around the world for this Saturday’s (5 October) feast at Quantum in Digbeth.

When we think of Dumplings we all think about steamed pan-fried Chinese Dumplings, after all they are the first to create this epic humble dish more than 1,800 years, but at Taste and Liquor we thought what Dumplings do the rest of the world eat? So we jumped across The South China Seas into The Indian Ocean and headed straight to South India and fell in love with their Indo-Chinese Cuisine

At Taste and Liquor International Dumpling Festival taking influences from China and India is Veeru Da Dhaba. They will be celebrating their Indian heritage with a Far Eastern twist. Their new exclusive dish: Vegan Koftas in a Manchurian Sauce will be a super delicious indo-Chinese dish that will cater all your Dumpling cravings and leave you wanting for more! Their Manchurian Sauce is mouth-watering on point and is prepared with brown soya sauce, fresh tomato puree and spiced up with chopped green chillies and coriander leaves. Served deep with a bowl of steamed rice and you’re good to go!

They will also be showcasing Indian Lamb Kofta Dumplings, which are a part of Mughlai cuisine of the Indian subcontinent, borrowed largely from Persian cuisine but you can also see koftas in Central Asian and Middle Eastern cuisines. Veeru’s Punjabi Lamb Kofta Dumplings will be deep-fried and cooked in tomato-onion gravy with plenty of spices that make the dish rich and absolutely sumptuous.

Their third new offering is Vodka Golgappa’s. Traditional Golgappa (Vegan) is a street snack in several regions of India. It consists of a round, hollow puri, fried crisp and filled with a mixture of flavored water, tamarind chutney, chili, chaat masala, potato, onion and chickpeas. However on this occasion Veeru’s will be added Vodka to the mix! Go on, we dare you!
