From Poland With Love, Pierogi Dumplings Makes A Comeback This Saturday

In honor of National Pierogi Day (November 8th) what better place to celebrate than at Taste and Liquor International Dumpling Day. Enjoy these delicious Polish dumplings this Saturday, as we’ll be serving the best pierogi in Birmingham. Learn about the Polish dish with our top pierogi facts and then head to Full Belly, to try some for yourself.

We are beyond excitement to announce that Polish street-food traders Full Belly returns back for the second year to present their countries much loved Dumplings. Pierogi is loved by so many, why else do they have a National Pierogi Day, so let’s continue with the celebrations and indulge in these delicious moon shape offerings that are making so much noise.

So what is Pierogi? According to Newsdesk Pierogi are Polish dumplings made from unleavened dough and various sweet or savoury fillings include meat, cheese and potato, sauerkraut, and fruit.

Pierogi popular variety in the US is Ruskie Pierogi, which comes from an area of pre-war Poland called Red Ruthenian, according to Tasting Poland. It is made with mashed potatoes, cottage cheese, and fried onions.

Pierogi are often dipped into sour cream. Yum!

According to Polska Food, pierogi have been around since the 13th century, though their origin is unknown.

In September 2019, a woman named Beata Jasek broke the world record for the most pierogi made in one hour, according to The First News. Jasek made 1,066 in just one hour.

Anyone who has ever visited Poland, had a Polish friend or acquaintance or even known someone whose grandmother was Polish has heard of pierogi. Pierogi are one of the most famous Polish dishes to ever exist, and virtually everyone worldwide treats the word as a synonym of Polish cuisine as a a whole. And rightfully so—traditional pierogi are both delicious and filling, and there are many different kinds to choose from, so everyone can find the pierogi that suit their tastes.

The International Dumpling Festival, a tasty street food festival serving dumplings in multiple ethnic variations. Opened all day-to-night from 12pm to 8pm on October 12th at Quantum in Digbeth.
