Wrap It Up With A Hot Kati Roll At Birmingham’s First Indian Street Feast

Winter has arrived and the German Market is in full swing, but before we say our goodbyes to our co-workers, friends and some of our family members, who fancies one last pre-Xmas party the Indian way?! Come Saturday 30 November, Quantum – a converted warehouse in Digbeth – will be transformed into the hustle and bustle of a Mumbai street food market for just one day. Celebrating Indian Street Food in all its spicy glory, welcome to Birmingham’s first Indian Street Feast.

Taste and Liquor Indian Street Feast presents six of the best pop-up vendors who’ll be presenting dishes from across the South Asian region. Indian food in Birmingham is more exciting than ever! Indulge in traditional, modern and new dishes all day starting first with Chilli Kitchens’ banging menu!

Having served up Indian Street Food all across the UK festivals Chilli Kitchen has been also making a name for themselves in the celebrity circuit. With fans including BBC Radio Presenter Matt Everitt and international Rock Band DieAntwoord, these sought after chefs will be rolling out the best West Bengal Kati and Roti Rolls at Taste and Liquor Indian Street Feast.

So what’s a Kati Roll I hear you ask, well it’s is a street-food dish originating from Kolkata, West Bengal. In its original form, it is a skewer roasted kebab wrapped in a paratha bread, although over the years many variants have evolved all of which now go under the generic name of Kati roll.

At Taste and Liquor Indian Street Feast Chilli Kitchen will be serving up delicious golden crispy Kathi rolls stuffed with either Masala Chilli Chicken, Vegan Potato Curry or Spiced Grilled Halloumi Masala, with or without Masala or Tikka Fries. The rolls are made from rich, thick, flaky paratha, and the fillings are generous, mildly spiced, and a little sweet, offset by crunchy shallots, purple organic slaw and the verdant freshness of garlic, chilli and coriander paste and mint yoghurt sauce. This also comes in a Roti Wrap. On top of this already delicious menu check out their Mix-Grill offering below.

Alongside their Roti Wraps – slim fat bread, rolled tight with judiciously spiced fillings – they will also be serving up their special Indian Mix Grill with a 36 Hour Marinated Lamb Chops, Handmade Lamb Seekh Kebabs, and Tandoori Chicken. We would advise trying a selection of two or three, just order Kati-Roti to go, grab a nearby bench and enjoy them with perhaps a few curry-eating strangers. Trust us, Indian food is the secret to a good life. Yum!
